Store or ship the converter module andcomponents in antistatic packaging.• Check the converter module for damage. If you find damage, contactyour sales or customer service representative at the organization fromwhich you purchased the equipment.• Use proper grounding techniques when you install the convertermodule. You can use a foot strap and grounded mat or wear agrounded static discharge wrist strap.WARNINGRemoval of the power cord is the only way to turn off powerto 5000 Series switches. The power cord must always beconnected in a location that can be accessed quickly and safelyin case of an emergency.Procedure StepsStep Action1 Make certain you are properly grounded electrically. See"Prerequisites" (page 76).2 The 5000 Series switch has a blank plate covering the convertermodule slot on the back of the switch.Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws. Pull the plategently toward you to pull the plate loose.3 Set aside the blank plate and the screws.
