The display module and the main circuit board are fastened tothe underside of the faceplate. The Asynchronous Data Option (ADO) circuitboard, if equipped, is mounted inside the base.KeysThe M2317 telephone is equipped with 17 feature keys (see Figure 10) whichare arranged as follows:Fixed keysThere are four keys to which a fixed function is assigned. They consist of thefollowing:• 1 Release key• 1 Hold key• 1 Volume control key (with 2 toggle positions)• 1 Handsfree/Mute key (with associated LCD indicator)Feature keysThere are 11 programmable line/feature keys on the telephone faceplate. Eachhas an associated LCD indicator. Lines and features are assigned to these keysby service changes in the system software. A maximum of ten voice DirectoryNumbers and specific features such as, Auto Answerback, Call Waiting, DialIntercom, and Display can be assigned.Alphanumeric display screen and softkeysThe M2317 telephone is equipped with a two-line (40 characters per linecapacity) Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) screen and five LCD-labeledsoftkeys located immediately beneath the display screen.The 155 x 15 mm (6 x 0.6 in) LCD screen has a capacity of 80 characters (twolines of 40 characters each). The first line displays date and time during theidle state, incoming call identification, feature icons, user prompts, andmessages, whereas the second line displays the labels for the softkeys (sevencharacters per key).
