Bandwidth Management Page 115 of 254Main Office Configuration for SRG200/400 Release 1.5 Configuration GuideZonesBandwidth Management Zones are configured for each endpoint on a CallServer. The Network Bandwidth Zone number determines if a call is anintrazone call or an interzone call. Once that is determined, the proper codecand bandwidth limit is applied to the call. All of the endpoints on one Call Server are configured with Zone number toidentify all of the endpoints as being in a unique geographic location in thenetwork. In addition, Virtual Trunks are configured with a Zone number thatis different from the endpoint Zone numbers in the Call Server.Codec selection occurs as described in “Codec selection” on page 111.Configuration rulesThere are four configuration rules for Bandwidth Management, as follows:1 Each Call Server in the network must be configured with a unique VPNI,with the only exception noted in point 2, next.2 Branch office (MG 1000B and SRG) Call Servers must be configuredwith the same VPNI as that of the main office Call Server with whichthey register.3 Nortel recommends that all the endpoints on a Call Server (IP Phones andVoice Gateway Media Cards) be configured with the same Zone number.4 Virtual Trunks must be configured with a different Zone number than theendpoints.Network PlanningBefore configuring Bandwidth Management in a CS1000 network, followthese steps:1 Choose unique VPNIs for all Call Servers in the network.2 Choose unique Bandwidth Zone numbers for all Call Servers in thenetwork. These are used when configuring the endpoints (telephones andgateways) on the Call Server.
