Page 32 of 254 OverviewNN43001-308 Standard 01.02 May 2007Networking considerationA fault condition can occur if IP Phones use a different route to the mainoffice than that used by the SRG.CapacityEach CS 1000 main office can support up to 255 branch offices, which can bemade up of any combination of SRGs and MG 1000Bs. SRG200/400 Release1.5 supports up to 90 survivable IP Phone users. However, since all IP Phonesregister with the main office, the governing factor is the maximum number ofIP Phones that can be supported at the main office. This means the totalnumber of IP Phones in all offices can be no greater than the capacity of themain office. See one of the following documents to determine the totalnumber of phones your system can support:• Communication Server 1000M and Meridian 1 Small System Planningand Engineering (NN43011-220)• Communication Server 1000M and Meridian 1 Large System Planningand Engineering (NN43021-220)• Communication Server 1000E Planning and Engineering (NN43041-220)Virtual Trunks capacityThe SRG capacity to support a number of simultaneous calls depends on thespecific codec type used and the available bandwidth.CAUTION — Service InterruptionIf the network is planned so that IP Phones use a differentroute to the main office than that used by the SRG, a faultcondition can occur. When the SRG can ping the mainoffice but the IP Phone cannot ping the main office due toa network outage, an IP Phone registration can force thetelephone into a cycle of registering locally, beingredirected to the main office, rebooting, and thenregistering locally again. When this cycle occurs, furtherdiagnose the network outage.
