Tighten clamp on connector to secure cable.3.11.2 Installing and Configuring the PRN Series PrinterWhen connected to the Control Panel via an EIA-232 interface, the PRN prints a copy of all statuschanges within the control panel and time-stamps the printout with the time of day and date theevent occurred. It provides 80 columns of data on standard 9" by 11" tractor-feed paper. This section contains information on connecting a printer to the control panel and for setting theprinter options.Connecting a Remote PRN Series PrinterRemote printers require a 120 VAC, 50/60 Hz primary power source. If required for the fire alarmsystem configuration (for example, a Proprietary Fire Alarm System), a remote printer requires asecondary power source (battery backup). Because a secondary power source is not provided, use aseparate Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) that is UL-listed for Fire Protective Signaling. Youmay use your building emergency power supply, so long as it meets the power continuityrequirements of NFPA 72. Refer to NFPA 72 for further details.Connect the remote printer to the Control Panel as follows:1. Connect the three (3) open leads of the custom cable to the TB12 terminal block on the controlpanel as shown in Figure 3.15.2. Plug the DB-25 connector end of the custom cable into the EIA-232 port of the remote printer.Tighten securely.DB-25 Connector(Custom cable kit 90106) TB12 on Control PanelPin 3 TXPin 2 RXPin 7 REFNOTE: You can also use the EIA-232 printer interface with UL-listed information technologyequipment, such as personal computers, to monitor the control panel for supplementarypurposes.Note: Outputs are power-limitedbut are not supervised.CPU-320-prn.wmfDB-25 connector on PRNseries printer (femalesocket shown)Control PanelTerminate one end ofshield at backboxFigure 3.15 Remote Printer Connections
