12 Utility Tool12-30 VarioLink 9522 (Version 2)12.4 ToneCurve UtilityUsing the ToneCurve Utility allows you to adjust the brightness and the contrast of the document to beprinted. The tone curve that has been registered can also be used by other computers on the network.2 NoteThe tone curve that has been created by the ToneCurve Utility and registered with the image controllercan be selected only by the PPD Plug-in Driver to be used for printing.For details of the ToneCurve Utility, refer to the help file.The flowchart for the operation of ToneCurve Utility is as described below1 Start of the ToneCurve Utility.2 Selection of a printer.– When a test chart is used that has been registered:Select a registered test chart from the pull-down list.– When any test chart is arbitrarily used:Click [Add] to select a file (restricted only to PS and PDF files.)(The registration of up to 10 files is available.)3 Adjustment of the ToneCurve Utility.– An adjustment can be made either by the drag and drop of the mouse or the slider.4 Verification of the output by means of the test chart.– Click [Print] in the Print Settings screen.– Adjust the ToneCurve again, if necessary.5 Saving of the tone curve and default setting of the tone curve. (Saved in the image controller.)Settings completed.6 A setting is made with the tone curve of the [Screen tab] of the PPD Plug-in driver for printing.2 NoteFiles in excess of 10 pages cannot be added to the Test Chart.Main window of the ToneCurve Utility- Click [Add] and select a file to add a test chart.- To adjust the tone curve, slide the slider of [Brightness]/[Contrast] or drug and drop the mouse at theadjustment point in the tone curve area.- Click [Save] to save the settings of the tone curve.- [Keep 100% Density for Text] gets active only when the output value of the tone curve is set below100%. When [Keep 100% Density for Text] is not checked, take note of the density of characters.
