Océ VarioPrint 1105Jobs can be delivered into a hot folder byeither dragging the icon and dropping it overthe hot folder or by copying the file then rightclicking on the hot folder icon to paste thefile directly into it.The hot folder can be set up to automaticallyassign the same print criteria to a job,negating any further operator involvement,or it can require the operator to confirm thecorrect settings before the job is submitted.This is a valuable function allowing operatorsto set up specific document production hotfolders, but allowing them to choose thequantity of the job required on eachoccasion.This is a valuable feature in print on demandpublishing. Take for example a CRD at amanufacturing firm. To save on printingcosts, the firm prints manuals for its productswhen they are required, rather than orderinga bulk print run from an outside agency. Themanuals are stored in the CRD as a PDFfile. The manuals are printed using chapters,tab sheets and pre-printed covers. The CRDoperator simply creates a direct print hotfolder with all the document productionsettings for each device manual. When thecall comes from sales saying that they havesold 100 of product X, the CRD operator justhas to choose the correct manual PDF, dropit into the hot folder, specify the quantity at100, stock the device with the requiredmedia and then release the job to the printqueue, without even having to open the file.PrintA PDF file being dragged and droppedonto a hot folder
