6 / EnglishPreparing a location for theprinterPlace the machine on a level and sturdy surface thatcan withstand the machine weight, 50 lb. (22.6 kg). Iftilted, the machine may fall over and cause injuries.Space requirementsThe printer has ventilation holes on the side and rearpanels. Ensure that the printer is installed with aminimum clearance of:• Rear: 10 inches (255 mm)• Left Side: 8 inches (200 mm)• Right Side: 12 inches (300 mm)• Front: 16 inches (402 mm)A poorly ventilated machine can cause excessiveinternal heat and fire.Environmental RequirementsEnsure that the installation location meets the followingconditions:• Do not place the printer in a hot, humid, dusty orpoorly ventilated environment. Prolonged exposureto such adverse conditions can result in fire orelectric shock.• Temperature range 50 – 89°F (10 – 32°C ).• Humidity range 15 – 85% (no condensation).• Humidity should be 70% or below at 89°F (32°C),and temperature should be 82°F (28°C) or below at85% humidity.• Do not expose the printer to direct sunlight.• Do not expose the printer to the direct draft of air-conditioning or heating.Install the Face Up (Rear)Tray1. Insert the right and left tabs of the face up (rear)tray into the holes at the back of the printer (1),and lower the tray into position (2).2. Push up the rear output tray lever as shown in thediagram (1) and pull out the extension tray (2).Install the Drum-TonerCartridgeNOTESudden temperature fluctuations can affectprint quality. Rapid heating of a cold room ormoving the printer from a location with lowhumidity/temperature to high humidity/temperature can cause condensation inside theprinter, directly interfering with image transfer. When condensation occurs, leave the printerfor at least 1 hour to acclimate to theenvironment before using it.NOTEYour printer is supplied with a drum-tonercartridge with an approximate capacity of10,000 Letter pages at 5% coverage.Replacement drum-toner cartridges areavailable with approximate capacities of15,000 pages, 20,000 pages or 25,000 pages.
