C9300/C9500 Software Utilities • 448Using OverlaysBefore overlays can be printed, they must be created in a softwareapplication and saved as a print file, then downloaded to the printer’sinternal hard disk drive or flash memory using Storage DeviceManager.General InformationTo use overlays, the Oki Storage Device Manager software must beinstalled. It is recommended that the printer be equipped with thehard disk drive (standard on all Oki dxn models).You can save logos, letterheads, etc. as overlays• on the printer’s internal hard disk drive(maximum available space, 2 MB each for PCL Macros andPostScript Forms) or• in the printer’s flash memory(available space limited to about 0.5 MB each for PCL Macrosand PostScript Forms)then add one or any combination of them to a file as it is beingprinted.Use overlays• in place of pre-printed stationery• to add your logo or company address to a document• to create forms from pre-stored modular pieces.• Overlay elements must be created in the software applicationof your choice, then stored on the printer’s hard drive usingStorage Device Manager before they can be used.• If the hard disk memory is insufficient for the spooled data, themessage DISK FULL appears.Important!When the hard disk drive is installed, you must use the ShutdownMenu before turning the printer off.
