Oki Data CONFIDENTIAL2.4.1 Electrophotographic Processing Mechanism(1) Electrophotographic processThe overview of the electrophotographic process is described below.ElectriicationDC power is applied to the CH roller to evenly negatively electrify the surface ofthe OPC drum.ExposureThe LED head irradiates light on the surface of the OPC drum that is chargedwith a negative electrical load. The negative electrical load attenuates accordingto the intensity of light, for the irradiation area of the OPC drum surface. Further, the electrostatic latent image is created on the OPC drum surface according tothe electrical potential.DevelopmentThe negatively charged toner comes in contact with the OPC drum to fuse theelectrostatic latent image by electrostatic force, to create a signiicant image onthe surface of the OPC drum.TransferPaper is pressed against the surface of the OPC drum, then conveyed by thetransfer roller from behind. The toner and positive electrical load of a reverseelectrode is applied, then the toner image is transferred to the paper.CleaningThe cleaning blade removes residual toner on the OPC drum after the toner istransferred to the paper.FuserHeat and pressure is applied to the toner image on the paper to fuse the imageon the paper.43627911TH Rev. 3 28 /
