Oki Data CONFIDENTIAL2.14 Reading Version of Routine Replacement UnitsThis determines whether the parts are new or old according to the I/D of the consumable partsthat are routinely replaced, the fuser unit, and the state of the fuse in the belt unit (good/dead). Ifthe fuse is in a conductive state, then it is considered a new unit. A NEW or OLD decision takesplace when the power is turned ON and when the cover is closed. When the part is NEW, thelife counter of the unit is reset, and the NEW/OLD decision-making fuse in each unit is cut.2.15 Life Counter of Replaceable UnitsThe following Table lists the life counter of the I/D, fuser unit, and belt unit that are routinely re-placed consumable parts.Unit State Life processingID Count the drum rotation in a unit of [LetterPaper Length + Paper Interval duringcontinuous print].Life :When printing a distance equivalent to30K sheets (3P/J).Stop PrintingHowever, 1500 sheets can beprinted by opening and closing thecover.Toner Cartridge Count the number of print dots.Determine the usage level according to thecounter value.(Refer to 2.16)Stop PrintingHowever, 50 sheets can be printedby re-turning the power back ON oropening/closing the cover. (A4 5%)Belt Unit Convert the drum rotation into [Letter PaperLength + Distance Between PaperUpon Continuous Printing].One sheet of paper passing through iscounted as one on the counter.Life:When the counter value reached 100K.Stop PrintingHowever, 20 sheets can be printedby re-turning the power back ON oropening/ closing the cover.Fuser Unit Disposal Toner Near-Full state. If paper is longer than 13 inches, the numberof the paper sheets will be an integermultiplied by 13 inches plus one.Life: When counter value is 100K.Stop PrintingHowever, power is turned off andon again or opening/ closing thecover, the printer will be able toprint 500 more sheets or, after150K, 50 more sheets.Waste Toner Box Converts the weight of discharged toner tothe number of A4 sheets and counts thenumber.Life: When the counter has reached 30K.Stop PrintingWhen power is turned off and onagain or opening/closing the cover, the printer will be able to print up to50 counts.2.16 Toner Usage Level DetectionThe toner usage level is detected by counting the number of dots printed. The counted numberof dots is written in the IC chip in a toner cartridge.Once toner low is detected, the toner shall be considered empty after dot counting 1,050 A4sheets at 5%.However, when the power is turned back ON, and the cover is opened and closed, the printercan still print 50 more sheets.43627911TH Rev. 3 52 /
