|User’s Guide: English 91Using Voice RequestThe voice request feature allows you to have a conversationwith a person at a remote fax machine after a faxcommunication is finished. Either the person sending orreceiving the fax can initiate a voice request.If you are sending a fax, you can answer a voice request onlyafter all pages have been transmitted. If you are receiving afax, you can answer a voice request after reception of eachpage.You will know if the person on the other fax machine hasissued a voice request when you hear a warbling tone. If youdo not respond in approximately six seconds, the voicerequest is automatically cancelled.! You need to have either the optional handset or anexternal telephone attached to the fax machine in orderto use the voice request function.You can use the voice request function only when youare using the document feeder to send a fax directly to asingle location (manual transmission).You cannot use Voice Request with memory, delayed,relay, or broadcast faxing.You cannot use the voice request function when your areoperating the fax unit at transmission speeds greaterthan 14,400 bits per second.
