Wesuggest you read this in conjunction with the NovellNetWare Documentation.This section contains instructions and information on how toconfigure your network print server in the NetWareenvironment.There are three connection methods for Novell NetWare:• Bindery• Novell Directory Services (NDS)• Novell Distributed Print Services (NDPS)To print using a Novell network environment, configure theNetWare server and thenetwork print server.To make the configuration changes, you must haveAdministrator (NetWare 4.x and 5.x) and Supervisor (NetWare3.x) authorization.About NetWareThe network print server supports both NDS and Binderyprinting. NDPS printing is supported in Novell’s gateway.For printing using Novell Directory Services (NDS) orBindery Connections, the network print server supports thefollowing modes.Print Server ModeIn print server mode:1 A print job is stored in a print queue on the file server.2 A printer running in print server mode directly accessesthe print queue and takes the job.3 The printing process is performed immediately.You do not need to have a print server on the file server.Remote Printer ModeIn remote printer mode:1 A job is stored in a print queue on the file server.2 The print server (on the file server) takes the job, and3 Transfers it to the printer allocated to the print queue.4 The printer receives the job and the printing operation isperformed.
