Using BatteriesInstead of using the AC/DC adapter and the electrical powersupply to power your printer, you can operate it either withten LR6/ AA-size 1.2 to 1.5 Volt market standard batteriesavailable from any electrical supplies shop and mostsupermarkets or with one of the optional battery packsavailable.Market Standard BatteriesTo insert the batteries in the printer, proceed as follows (seealso the sequence of figures on page V):• Remove the battery container from the rear of the printer:– hold the printer vertical– with the index or middle fingers, press down on the twocatches on the underside of the printer and,simultaneously, with the thumbs, push the batterycontainer outwards.• Remove any batteries from the battery container.• Insert the new batteries in the battery container, makingsure that their polarity is correct (see the indications on theinside of the battery container).• Reinsert the battery container in the printer.The battery container must NOT be removed from theprinter when you transport it.Batteries should always be replaced/recharged all at thesame time.Do not mix battery types and always dispose of usedbatteries in accordance with your local legislation.Rechargeable Battery PackTwo types of battery pack (item 1 on page IV), recognisedautomatically once inserted in the printer, are available:• A 12 Volt, 600 mAh capacity Ni-Cd (nickel-cadmium)battery pack which gives an autonomy of operation ofapproximately 80 pages*.• A 12 Volt, 1 Ah capacity Ni-MH (nickel-metal hydride)battery pack which gives an autonomy of operation ofapproximately 140 pages*.]With a fully-charged battery pack and normal usage.The duration of the battery pack will depend on thevolume of text per page.20 User Guide - Using Batteries
