52 ENBattery Handling PrecautionsThis camera uses a lithium ion battery specified byOlympus. Do not use any other type of battery.If the battery’s terminals get wet or greasy, cameracontact failure may result. Wipe the battery wellwith a dry cloth before use.Always charge a battery when using it for the firsttime, or if it has not been used for a long period.When operating the camera with battery powerat low temperatures, try to keep the camera andspare battery as warm as possible. A battery thathas run down at low temperatures may be restoredafter it is warmed at room temperature.The number of pictures you can take may varydepending on the shooting conditions or battery.Please recycle batteries to help save our planet’sresources. When you throw away dead batteries,be sure to cover their terminals and alwaysobserve local laws and regulations.LCD MonitorDo not push the monitor forcibly; otherwise theimage may become vague, resulting in a playbackmode failure or damage to the monitor.A strip of light may appear on the top/bottom of themonitor, but this is not a malfunction.When a subject is viewed diagonally in thecamera, the edges may appear zigzagged on themonitor. This is not a malfunction; it will be lessnoticeable in playback mode.In places subject to low temperatures, the LCDmonitor may take a long time to turn on or itscolor may change temporarily. When using thecamera in extremely cold places, it is a good ideato occasionally place it in a warm place. An LCDmonitor exhibiting poor performance due to lowtemperatures will recover in normal temperatures.The LCD used for the monitor is made withhigh-precision technology. However, black spotsor bright spots of light may appear constantly onthe LCD Monitor.
