Wireless fl ash control rangePosition the wireless fl ash units withtheir remote sensors facing the camera. The following illustration shows theapproximate ranges at which the flashunits can be positioned. The actual controlrange varies with local conditions.7m5m100°100°50°50°50°50°60°60°30°30°30°30°# Cautions• We recommend using a single group of up to three remote flash units.• Remote fl ash units cannot be used for second curtain slow synchronization or anti-shockexposures longer than 4 seconds.• If the subject is too close to the camera, the control flashes emitted by the supplied flashmay affect exposure (this effect can be reduced by reducing the output of the internalfl ash by, for example, using a diffuser).• The upper limit of flash synchronization timing is 1/160 sec. when using the flash inremote control mode.Other external flash unitsNote the following when using a third-party fl ash unit mounted on the camera hot shoe:• Using obsolete fl ash units that apply currents of more than about 24 V to the camera hotshoe X-contact will damage the camera.• Connecting fl ash units with signal contacts that do not conform to Olympus specificationsmay damage the camera.• Set the Shooting mode to M, set the shutter speed to a value no higher than flashsynchronous speed, and set ISO sensitivity to a setting other than [AUTO].• Flash control can only be performed by manually setting the fl ash to the ISO sensitivityand aperture values selected with the camera. Flash brightness can be adjusted byadjusting either ISO sensitivity or aperture.• Use a fl ash with an angle of illumination suited to the lens. Angle of illumination is usuallyexpressed using 35-mm format equivalent focal lengths.
