EN2 Power SupplyNote• Always use the dedicated USB cable that isprovided. Do not use a cable from anothermanufacturer. Doing so could cause a failure.Inaddition, do not connect the dedicated cable toanother manufacturer’s product.• Carefully insert the battery facing the right direc-tion.• Be sure to turn off the recorder before replacingthe battery. If the battery is removed while therecorder is operating, a failure could occur (Forexample, the recorder may become unable toplay files).• You may have to reset the time if the battery isremoved from the recorder for 15 minutes or ifthe battery is repeatedly removed and insertedat short intervals (☞ p.27).• Remove the battery if the recorder is not to beused for a long time.• When you need a new battery, always purchasethe Olympus lithium ion battery (LI-50B).Do notuse a cable from another manufacturer. Doingso could cause a failure.• When recharging the battery, turn on the PCand connect the recorder using the USB cable.The battery is not recharged if the PC is off orin the standby, hibernation or auto-power-offmode.• Do not use the USB hub to connect to the PCwhen recharging the battery.• The battery indicator shows [<] when recharg-ing is complete (Recharging time: about threehours*).* This is the approximate time when recharg-ing an empty battery to the full level at theroom temperature.The recharging time variesdepending on the remaining battery level,recharging state and other factors.• If [;] or [=] is displayed, the battery cannot berecharged.The ambient temperature must bebetween 5 C and 35 C to recharge the battery.[;]: The ambient temperature is too low.[=]: The ambient temperature is too high.• If the battery runs out very quickly even afterbeing recharged to the full level, replace it with anew one.• Securely insert the USB connector all the way in.The USB connector must be properly connectedto operate normally.Recharging4Discharge:Because the lithium ion battery has self-dischargecharacteristics, recharge the attached lithium ionbattery before using the product for the first time.4Operating temperature:The battery is a chemical product. Although thebattery performance varies even if the battery isused in the recommended temperature range, thisvariation is not a failure.4Recommended temperature range:When operating the recorder: 0 to 42 CWhen recharging: 5 to 35 CWhen storing the recorder for a long time: –20to 30 CUsing the battery outside the above temperaturerange could cause performance deterioration or ashorter period of durability. If the recorder is not tobe used for a long time, remove the battery prior tostorage to prevent liquid leak or rust.• A new battery or a battery that has not beenused for a long time (one month or more) maynot completely recharge due to the nature oflithium ion batteries. In such a case, repeatedlyrecharge and discharge the batteries a few times.• Dispose of the battery according to applicablelaws.When disposing of the battery withoutcompletely discharging it, insulate the batteryterminals with tape or take other measures toprevent short-circuiting.▌Power Supply
