No other type ofbatteries can be used.Power consumption by the camera variesdepending on which functions are used.During the conditions described below, poweris consumed continuously and the batterybecomes exhausted quickly.The zoom is used repeatedly.The shutter button is pressed halfwayrepeatedly in shooting mode, activating theauto focus.A picture is displayed on the monitor for anextended period of time.The camera is connected to a computer orprinter.Using an exhausted battery may cause thecamera to turn off without displaying thebattery level warning.The rechargeable battery is not fully chargedat the time of purchase. Charge the batteryfully with the LI-40C charger before use.The provided rechargeable battery usuallytakes approximately 5 hours to charge (varieson usage).The supplied LI-40C battery charger is usedonly for LI-42B/LI-40B battery. Do not chargeother type of battery with the supplied batterycharger. It might cause explosion, leaking,overheating or fire.•••••••••••Camera careExteriorWipe gently with a soft cloth. If the camera isvery dirty, soak the cloth in mild soapy waterand wring well. Wipe the camera with thedamp cloth and then dry it with a dry cloth. Ifyou have used the camera at the beach, use acloth soaked in clean water and wrung well.If any dirt, dust, sand, or other foreign materialadheres to the periphery of the lens coverafter use, or the lens cover does not movesmoothly, wash the camera using the methoddescribed on P. 67.MonitorWipe gently with a soft cloth.LensBlow dust off the lens with a commercialblower, then wipe gently with a lens cleaner.Battery/ChargerWipe gently with a soft, dry cloth.Do not use strong solvents such as benzeneor alcohol, or chemically treated cloth.Mold may form on the lens surface if thelens is left dirty.StorageWhen storing the camera for extendedperiods, remove the battery, AC adapter andcard, and keep in a cool, dry place that is wellventilated.Periodically insert the battery and test thecamera functions.Avoid leaving the camera in places wherechemical products are handled since thismay result in corrosion.•••••••
