29 (E)ENGLISHThe luminance level of artificial lighting—particularly that of fluorescent lights andmercury lamps—changes in synchronizationwith the power line frequency. Especially inareas with a power line frequency of 60 Hz, thevertical sync frequency (approx. 50 Hz) of thecamera recorder and frequency of the lighting(60 Hz) will interfere with each other, possiblycausing the white balance to change cyclically. When shooting under artificial lighting or whenadjusting the white balance, set the shutterspeed as shown below.Progressive modeShutter speed50 Hz60 HzOFF (50i) 1/60 OFF (1/50)25P 1/60 OFF (1/50)Progressive mode Standard (OFF)shutter speedShutter speeds which can be selected using SPEED SEL buttonShutter speed settingsSYNCHRO SCANOFF (50i) 1/50 1/60, 1/120, 1/250, 1/500, 1/1000, 1/20001/50.2 --- 1/248.025P 1/50 1/25, 1/60, 1/120, 1/250, 1/500, 1/10001/25.1 --- 1/248.0Setting the electronic shutter1 Each time the SHUTTER button is pressed, the standard (OFF) shutter speed and theshutter speed selected by the SPEED SELbutton are selected alternately.2 After pressing the SHUTTER button, pressthe SPEED SEL button to select the shutterspeed. Each time the SPEED SEL button ispressed, the shutter speed changes by onesetting in the following sequence. When the progressive mode is OFF (50i)In the progressive mode (25P)OThe higher the shutter speed, the lowerthe sensitivity of the camera.OWhen the iris is controlled automatically, itopens more and more and the depth offocus becomes shallower and shalloweras the shutter speed increases.OEven when the SHUTTER button ispressed while the slow shutter mode (seepage 30) is established, “INVALID”appears in the viewfinder and on the LCDmonitor, and it is not possible to switch tothe above shutter speed.First, release the slow shutter mode usingthe USER button to which SLOWSHUTwas allocated, and then set to the aboveshutter speed.SYNCHROSCAN 1/251/5001/10001/60 1/1201/250SYNCHROSCAN 1/601/10001/20001/120 1/2501/500Shutter speeds which can be setIf a setting other than OFF has been selected for the OTHERDISPLAY item on the setting menu DISPLAY SETUP screen, the current shutter speed setting is displayed in the viewfinderand on the LCD monitor.
