11Installation (continue)To Connect the P2 drive to a Personal Computer for External Use1 After switching the personal computer off,remove the power cable from the personalcomputer.2 After checking that the personal computeris off, remove the cover from the personalcomputer.3 Insert the PCI Express board included withthe P2 drive into the PCI Expressconnector inside the personal computer.z Install the PCI Express board with thePCI Express connector. Installing withan ordinary PCI connector may causedamage to the personal computer.z Since the included PCI Express boarduses a full height bracket, it cannot beinstalled in a low-profile slot.z Refer to page 12 if you are using MacPro (1st Generation).4 Tighten the screws etc to attach the PCIExpress board to the personal computer.5 Attach the rubber feet to the dimples onthe base of the P2 drive.6 Connect the included PCI Express cableto the PCI Express connector of the P2drive, and then connect the other end tothe PCIe interface connector of the PCIExpress board already attached to thepersonal computer.After connecting the cable, tighten thescrews on the connector to firmly attachthe connector.z When connecting the cable, ensure thatboth the P2 drive and the personalcomputer are off.z Connect after carefully checking theconfiguration of the PCI Express cable.Connecting the ends in reverse willdamage internal parts and causemalfunction.z Use the PCI Express cable includedwith the P2 drive.
