857Chapter 7 Maintenance and Inspections7-1 Inspections Before ShootingMake sure you check that the system is operating normallybefore embarking on a shoot. We recommend using a colourvideo monitor to check the image.7-1-1 Preparing for Inspections1 Mount a charged battery pack.2 Turn the power switch ON and check that 5 or more BATTindication marks appear.z If fewer than 5 BATT indication marks appear, replace thebattery with a fully-charged battery.3 Insert a P2 card into the card slot and close the slide cover.Confirm that the P2 card access LED for the inserted cardslot lights up in orange. If P2 cards are inserted intomultiple card slots, only the P2 card access LED for thefirst-inserted P2 card lights up in orange. Then, the otherP2 card access LEDs light up in green when P2 cards areinserted.If the access LED for the P2 card slot in which a P2 card isinserted keeps blinking in green, or if there is no display,recording is not possible on that particular P2 card.7-1-2 Inspecting the Camera Unit1 Set the zoom to electric zoom mode and check the zoomoperation.Check that the image changes to telephoto and wide angle.2 Set the zoom to manual zoom mode and check the zoomoperation.Turn the manual zoom lever to check that the imagechanges to telephoto and wide angle.3 Set the iris to automatic adjustment mode and aim the lensat objects with different degrees of brightness, to check thatthe automatic iris adjustment operates normally.4 Set the iris to manual adjustment mode and turn the irisring, to check the manual iris adjustment.5 While holding down the instant iris automatic adjustmentbutton, aim the lens at objects with different degrees ofbrightness, to check that the instant iris automaticadjustment operates properly.6 Return the iris to automatic adjustment mode and changethe GAIN switch setting to L, M, and H, to check thefollowing items:z The iris is adjusted for objects with the same brightnessaccording to the switch setting.z The gain value displayed on the viewfinder screenchanges according to the switch setting.7 When a lens with an extender is mounted, set the extenderto the operating position to check that the extenderoperates properly.123
