12RQT7462Getting startedHDD and Disc information≥We recommend using Panasonic discs. DVD-R from other manufacturers may not be recorded or played due to the condition of the recording.≥This unit cannot record to discs containing both PAL and NTSC signals. (However, both types of programmes can be recorded onto the HDD.)Play of discs recorded with both PAL and NTSC on another unit is not guaranteed.Which should I use, DVD-RAM or DVD-R?The following chart indicates the differences. Select based uponwhat you require.[Note]When “DVD-R Rec for High Speed mode” is set to “On” therestrictions on secondary audio recording etc. are also applied toDVD-RAM. Turn this setting “Off” if high speed transfer (dubbing) toDVD-R is not necessary when recording a programme (➡ page 37).∫ Protection [RAM] (Cartridge discs)With the write-protect tab in the protect position,you cannot record to, edit, or erase from the disc.Play automatically starts when inserted in the unit.≥This unit plays CD-R/CD-RW (audio recording discs). Close thesessions or finalize the disc after recording.Play may be impossible on some CD-R or CD-RW discs due to thecondition of the recording.≥The producer of the material can control how discs are played. Soyou may not always be able to control play as described in theseoperating instructions.
