Making/Answering Calls14 For assistance, please visit http://www.panasonic.com/helpTemporary handset ringer offWhile the handset is ringing for a call, you canturn the ringer off temporarily by pressing{OFF}.Adjusting the base unit ringer volumePress {^} or {V} repeatedly to select thedesired volume.L To turn the ringer off, press and hold {V}until the unit beeps.Useful features during acallHoldThis feature allows you to put an outside callon hold.1 Press {MENU} during an outside call.2 {r}: “Hold” s {OK}3 To release hold, press {C}.L Another handset user can take the callby pressing {C}.Note:L If a call is kept on hold for more than 9minutes, the call rings at your unit again.After 1 additional minute on hold, the call isdisconnected.L If another phone is connected to the sameline, you can also take the call by lifting itshandset.MuteWhile mute is turned on, you can hear theother party, but the other party cannot hearyou.1 Press {MUTE} during conversation.2 To return to the conversation, press{MUTE} again.Flash{FLASH} allows you to use the specialfeatures of your host PBX such as transferringan extension call, or accessing optionaltelephone services.Note:L To change the flash time, see page 19.For call waiting or Call WaitingCaller ID service usersTo use call waiting, you must first subscribe tocall waiting from your serviceprovider/telephone company.This feature allows you to receive calls whileyou are already talking on the phone. If youreceive a call while on the phone, you will heara call waiting tone.If you subscribe to both Caller ID and CallWaiting with Caller ID services, the 2ndcaller’s information is displayed after you hearthe call waiting tone on the handset.1 Press {CALL WAIT} to answer the 2ndcall.2 To switch between calls, press {CALLWAIT}.Note:L Please contact your service provider/telephone company for details andavailability of this service in your area.Temporary tone dialing (forrotary/pulse service users)You can temporarily switch the dialing mode totone when you need to access touch-toneservices (for example, answering services,telephone banking services, etc.).Press * (TONE) before entering accessnumbers which require tone dialing.Handset clarity boosterThis feature can improve sound clarity whenthe handset is used in an area where theremay be interference.
