41Answering SystemAutomatic Answering OperationWhen the unit answers a call, a greeting message is played and the caller’smessage is recorded. When the handset is on the base unit, the Ringer indicator onthe handset will flash to indicate a message is being recorded.Setting the Unit to Answer CallsPress [ANSWER ON] to turn on the Answering System.• The button lights and the unit announces “Answer set” andcurrent day and time. If “Set time” is heard, set the dateand time (p. 13).• The unit will announce the remaining recording time if itis less than 3 minutes.• When the remaining recording time is 0, “ ” will bedisplayed on the base unit, [ANSWER ON] will flashrapidly and the unit will announce “Memory full”. Youneed to erase any unnecessary messages before newmessages can be recorded (p. 45).• To turn the Answering System off, press [ANSWER ON]again. The button light goes out and “Answer off ” isheard.• The Answering System can be turned on remotely usingany other phone (p. 48).• To turn the Answering System off, press [0] in step 3. “Answer off ” is heard.• The total recording time (including greeting message) is about 11 minutes.If messages are recorded in noisy rooms, the time may be shortened by up to3 minutes.• A maximum of 64 messages (including greeting message) can be recorded.1 Press [MENU].2 Scroll to “Message play” by pressing [ ] or [ ], then press Select.3 Press [8] to turn on the Answering System.• “Answer set” is heard.4 Press [OFF].Base Unit[ANSWER ON]FULLHandset>>✷✸✸✿✤✦✪✦✤✮ ❃ ✧✤
