Using Caller ID serviceImportant:R This unit is Caller ID compatible. To useCaller ID features (such as displaying callerphone numbers), you must subscribe to aCaller ID service. Contact your serviceprovider/telephone company for details.Caller ID featuresWhen an outside call is being received, thecaller’s phone number is displayed.Caller information for the last 50 callers islogged in the caller list from the most recentcall to the oldest.R If the unit cannot receive caller information,the following is displayed:– “Out of Area”: The caller dials froman area which does not provide a CallerID service.– “Private Caller”: The callerrequests not to send caller information.R If the unit is connected to a PBX system,caller information may not be properlyreceived. Contact your PBX supplier.Missed callsIf a call is not answered, the unit treats it as amissed call and is displayed. This lets youknow if you should view the caller list to seewho called while you were away.Even if only one missed call in the caller list isviewed (page 35), disappears from thedisplay. When you receive another new call,is displayed again.Note:R Even when there are unviewed missedcalls, disappears from the standbydisplay if the following operation isperformed by one of the registeredhandsets:– Being replaced on the base unit orcharger.– Pressing M N.Phonebook name displayWhen caller information is received and itmatches a phone number stored in thephonebook, the stored name in thephonebook is displayed and logged in thecaller list.Call waiting and Caller IDcompatibleIf you subscribe to Caller ID service, yourhandset displays the 2nd caller’s informationwhile talking. After you hear a call waitingtone, the caller’s phone number will bedisplayed.You can answer the 2nd call, keeping the 1stcall on hold. Follow your service provider/telephone company instructions usingMR/ECON. (Recall/flash function)R If the phone number is stored in thephonebook with its name, the caller’s namewill also be displayed.R Please contact your service provider/telephone company for details andavailability in your area.For Caller ID Type II usersWhen you receive a 2nd call during aconversation, you will hear a signal tonefollowing the call waiting tone and theconversation will be interrupted or mutedfor a short period of time. This is not a faultof the product as these events are normal.R The tones are generated by your serviceprovider/telephone company.Category ringer toneThis feature can help you identify who iscalling by using different ringer tones fordifferent categories of callers. When adding anentry to the phonebook, you can assign it tothe desired category (page 21).
