Recording Mode-70-Recording ModeAbout RecordingWhen recording pictures on a tape, set the ModeDial to Tape Recording Mode [ ].When recording still pictures or moving pictureson a card, set the Mode Dial to Card RecordingMode [ ].When recording with the[AUTO/MANUAL/FOCUS] Switch (48) set to[AUTO], the Movie Camera automatically adjuststhe focus and white balance. In some cases, theycannot be adjusted automatically and need to beadjusted manually. (-78-, -79-)≥Before turning on the power, remove theLens Cap. If the Lens Cap is still attachedwhen the power is turned on, AutomaticWhite Balance Adjustment (-78-) may notfunction correctly.≥When the Recording Pause Mode continues formore than 6 minutes, the power is turned offautomatically for tape protection and powerconservation. (If the AC Adaptor is used, thepower is turned off only when the tape isinserted in Tape Recording Mode.) When thetape is inserted in Tape Recording Mode and ifthe Recording Pause Mode continues for morethan 6 minutes, the power is turned offautomatically.To resume recording from this condition, turnoff, then turn on the power again.ª Recording LampThe Recording Lamp (20) lights up duringrecording and alerts those being recorded thatrecording is in progress.≥The Recording Lamp does not light up if the[REC LAMP] on the [INITIAL] Sub-Menu is setto [OFF].Recording on a Tape1 Set the [OFF/ON] Switch (46) to [ON].AUTOMANUALFOCUS(48)(20)≥The [POWER] Lamp (47) lights up.2 Set the Mode Dial (43) to Tape RecordingMode.3 Press the Recording Start/Stop Button (45).≥Recording starts.≥After the [RECORD] is displayed, it changesto [REC].4 Press the Recording Start/Stop Button (45)again to pause the recording.≥The [PAUSE] Indication is displayed.≥Even if the Mode Dial is set to Tape RecordingMode and the recording to a tape is in progress,you can also record a still picture on a card bypressing the [PHOTO SHOT] Button.ª To Check the RecordingBy pressing the [S] Button (10) briefly in theRecording Pause Mode, you can play back thelast few seconds of the recorded scene.≥The [CHK] Indication is displayed.
