Most conventional televisions willnot be able to display HDTV programs in their original format.DTV-Compatible TelevisionsThe STB, by using component video connections, will allow DTV-compatibletelevisions to produce pictures with incredible resolution. Component video consistsof three (3) primary color signals: red, green and blue that together convey allnecessary picture information. The three (3) component signals have been translatedinto luminance (Y) and two color difference signals (PB, PR), each on a separate wire.The STB, depending on the capabilities of the DTV-compatible television, will give youthe choice of HDTV or SDTV format.Audio/Visual FeaturesThe STB contains two vital links to the future of TV. When DTV broadcasts are available inyour viewing area, your HDTV monitor/receiver will be compatible using the STB. Itwill display the 16:9 wide screen aspect ratio format.SDTV-Compatible (480p/480i)SDTV-compatible TV models process and display standard definition output from thePanasonic STB as a 480p or 480i format. When DTV broadcasts are available in yourviewing area, your SDTV monitor/receiver will be compatible using the STI3.
