24Automatic Answering OperationWhen the unit answers a call, a greeting message is played and the caller’smessage is recorded.Setting the Unit to Answer CallsPress [ANSWER ON] to turn on the Answering System.• The indicator lights and the unit announces“Answer set” and current day and time. If“Answer set. Set time” is heard, set the time andday (p. 13).• The unit will announce the remainingrecording time if it is less than 3 minutes.• When no recording time is available, youwill need to erase any unnecessarymessages before new messages can berecorded (p. 27). The unit can indicate thatmemory is full in the following ways:— “ ” will flash on the base unit and theANSWER ON indicator will flash rapidly untilyou erase a message.— The unit will announce “Memory full”when you press [ANSWER ON] or[GREETING REC], and after playingback messages or recording a message.• If you do not want the unit to answer calls, press [ANSWER ON] again toturn off the Answering System. The indicator light goes out and “Answeroff” is heard.• You can also turn on the Answering System remotely from an outsidephone (p. 30).• The total recording time (including greeting message) is about 10minutes.
