If used, it ensures accesssecurity before device control is passed to a deviceconnected to a port. The password configuration optioncan be individually set for the COM or MODEM port, orboth if security is needed on both port types. The defaultis None. The password itself is set separately (refer to thefollowing section, Setting a Password). ProcedureTo establish access security on a port:1. From the top-level menu screen, select Cnfig.2. Select the configuration option set to be copiedinto the Edit area by using the appropriateFunction key. Use the scroll keys, if necessary.3. Select Edit.4. From the Edit screen, press the key until theUser selection appears on the screen.5. Select User.F1Edit:Chan Gen UserF2 F36. Press F1 (Next) until the Password configurationoption appears.7. Select port(s) to receive access security (None,Com, Modem, or Both). Unless youspecify otherwise, the password is null. ProcedureTo set a password:1. From the top-level menu screen, press the keyuntil the Ctrl selection appears on the screen.2. Select Ctrl.3. From the Control screen, press the key untilthe Passwd selection appears on the screen.4. Select Passwd.F1Control:Reset CID PasswdF2 F35. Enter the desired password. Press F1 (Up) andF2 (Down) to scroll up and down through thevalid characters/numbers for the password. Validpassword characters are 0–9, a–z, A–Z, #, –, .,and /.
