Installation2-93170-A2-GB20-10 March 1996Power-Up Self-TestAfter you connect the E1 DSU/CSU to a power source,the unit performs the power-up self-test to ensure that it isin good working order. The E1 DSU/CSU performs thistest on itself upon power-up or after a device reset unlessit has been disabled by the Self-Test configuration option(see Appendix C, Configuration Options).The self-test includes a basic processor test, a limitedmemory test, a code checksum test, and basic verificationtests of the internal components. The front panel LCDdisplays the progress and pass/fail status of thesepower-up tests.The power-up self-test consists of the following steps:1. Once the E1 DSU/CSU is plugged in, the InProgress screen appears and the Fail LED blinksON and Off continuously.F1Self-Test:In ProgressF2 F32. All the LEDs then start to flash simultaneously inthe pattern twice ON, then Off. Then, the LCDbegins to flash characters and numbers in the samepattern, alternating with the flashing LEDs.3. If the self-test is successful, the Passed screenappears for one second, the Fail LED turns Offand the OK LED lights.F1Self-Test:PassedF2 F3If the self-test fails, the Failed screen appears forfive seconds. The Fail LED lights, and aneight-digit failure code (nnnnnnnn) is displayedfor use by AT&T Paradyne personnel to determinethe cause of the self-test failure. The E1DSU/CSU continues to try to operate.
