COMSPHERE 3600 Series Data Service Units5-14 July 1999 3610-A2-GB41-70For a DSU configured as a central-site bridge withconfiguration option Bridge Rate set to =DDS, one of thefollowing two screens appears:F1DBM : Brdg with DDSBkupF2 F3F1DBM : Brdg w/o DDSDrBUF2 F3For a DSU configured as a central-site bridge withconfiguration option Bridge Rate set to =DSU, thefollowing screen is displayed.F1DBM : Inactiv BrdgBkupF2 F3Test BranchThe Test branch provides extensive testing capabilitiesfor the DSU, DDS circuit, DBM, and backup circuit. For a DSU that is performing a multiplexing functionsuch as rate adaption, nondisruptive diagnostics, TDM orMCMP, you can request tests on individual ports or on theaggregate data path. Local Loopback (LL) andEnd-to-End (EE) tests, however, can only be run on theaggregate data path.Tests that are performed on the aggregate data streamtest the entire bandwidth. Therefore, during aggregatetests, in-band secondary channel transport communicationis lost. For tests such as aggregate Digital Loopback (DL),the control DSU reports a No Response or a TribTimOutalarm for downstream devices. When a DSU receives a test request from the remoteDSU, it aborts any locally-initiated test in progress. Apoint-to-point control or tributary DSU, or a multipointcontrol DSU, can run all of the tests on the Test menu. Amultipoint tributary cannot run any remote tests or aBERT, Digital Test (DT), or EE test. There are a number of tests that can be initiated, depending upon your configuration. To determine theappropriate test(s) to run for a DBM (or DBM-V, DBM-S,or DBM-D), see Table 5-3 of the COMSPHERE3600 Series Data Service Units, Models 3610 and 3611,Dial Backup Module and SNA Diagnostic InterfaceOptions, Applications Guide. To determine theappropriate test(s) to run for a DSU and for additionalinformation, refer to the COMSPHERE 3600 Series DataService Units, Models 3610 and 3611, Operator’s Guide.
