Contact yourAriens Company Equipment Retailerconcerning emission controls and componentquestions.SAFETY RULES OPERATIONTo prevent personal injury or propertydamage, do not attempt to start engine untilall assembly steps are complete and youhave read and understand the safety andoperating instructions in this manual.If unit is to be used by someone other thanoriginal purchaser; loaned, rented or sold,ALWAYS provide this manual and anyneeded safety training before operation.If the operator or the mechanic cannot readthe manual, it is the owner’s responsibility toexplain it to them. Only the user can preventand is responsible for accidents or injuriesoccurring to themselves, other people orproperty.This product is equipped with an internalcombustion engine. DO NOT use on or nearany unimproved, forest or brush covered landunless the exhaust system is equipped with aspark arrestor meeting applicable local, stateor federal laws. A spark arrestor, if used,must be maintained in effective working orderby the operator.Wear approved safety glasses whenoperating this equipment. The operation ofany powered machine can result in foreignobjects being thrown by high-speed rotatingparts.Wear work gloves, sturdy footwear, andhearing protection when operating thisequipment.Remove hearing protection and watch fortraffic when operating near, or when crossingroadways.Before inspecting or servicing any part ofequipment, shut off engine, disconnect sparkplug wire from spark plug, and make sure thatall moving parts have come to a completestop. Be aware that rotating blades slowdown gradually after engine is shut off.Never leave equipment unattended whenengine is running. Shut off engine anddisconnect spark plug wire from spark plugbefore leaving equipment. Close the fuelshut-off valve.Exercise extreme caution on slopes andavoid excessively steep slopes.Use extreme caution when moving backwardor pulling the machine towards you.Do not change the engine governor or overrun the engine.Do not tilt the equipment when starting theengine or switching on the motor.Do not start the engine when standing in frontof the air discharge outlet.Walk, never run.ALWAYS be sure of your footing. Use cautionto avoid slipping and falling.Operate machine only in daylight or goodartificial light.NEVER operate after or during the use ofmedication, drugs or alcohol. Unit requirescomplete and unimpaired attention.If the machine should start to vibrateabnormally, stop the engine (motor) andcheck for the cause immediately. Vibration isgenerally a warning of trouble.Do not weld or repair damaged or wornimpeller. Replace only.Never allow children or untrained adults tooperate this equipment.Keep the area of operation clear of allpersons, particularly small children, and pets.Keep bystanders at least 25 feet away fromthe area of operation.Do not run engine in an enclosed area.Engine exhaust contains carbon monoxidegas, a deadly poison that is odorless,colorless, and tasteless.Before making air flow adjustments, shut offengine, and allow all moving parts to come toa complete stop.Do not move through or stand in the air flowwith the engine running. Blown debris cancause injury.Do not allow hands or any other part of thebody or clothing inside the air intake ordischarge areas.Do not start engine or operate this equipmentwith any safety guards removed.See manufacturer’s instructions for properoperation and installation of accessories.Only use accessories approved by themanufacturer.
