19Entering CommandsCommands are executed by typing the appropriate command or com-mands at the system prompt (TS>) followed by a valid entry (if applicable)and the key. If entering multiple commands, they must be enteredin hierarchy order (See “Model 2120 Help Menu/Command Hierarchy” onpage 17) and separated by a space. For example, the following commandstring is entered to set the serial interface data rate to 115.2 kbps:TS>configure eia232 interface datarate 115200For a single entry command such as “boot”, the following command isentered to remotely boot the Model 2120:TS>bootCommands entered are matched against the commands available forthat menu. Commands are accepted when the characters entered for acommand can only match one command for that menu. Thus shortcutsare permitted when entering commands. The following examples showhow shortcut commands can be used to enter the same configure andboot commands as listed above:TS>c e i da 115200TS>bActivating Configuration CommandsThe Model 2120 configuration parameters can be changed by using the“configure” command and associated sub-commands. Immediately afterthe necessary “configure” command string is entered, the “configure acti-vate” commandmust be entered in order to activate the changes andwrite them to flash memory. For example, the command string used toset the serial interface data rate to 115.2 kbps (see section “EnteringCommands”) must be immediately followed by the following command:TS>configure eia232 interface datarate 115200TS>configure activateIf successfully activated, the message “Activate is complete!” will display.Note The “configure activate” command MUST be entered after eachconfiguration change!
