Trimming with the trimming comb1 Attach the trimming comb to the appliance (Fig.7).2 slide the length setting adjustment slider to thedesired length setting (Fig. 8).Note: When you trim for the first time, start atthe highest length setting to familiarise yourselfwith the appliance.3 Switch on the appliance (Fig. 5).4 Move the appliance slowly and with lightpressure against the direction of hair growth(Fig. 9).Note: Make sure that the flat part of the combalways stays in contact with the skin to obtainan even result (Fig. 10).Trimming without combUse the trimmer without the trimming comb to trimhair close to the skin (0.5 mm) or to contour theneckline and sideburns.Caution: Be careful when you trim without combbecause the cutting unit removes every hair ittouches.1 Pull the comb off the appliance (Fig. 11).2 Switch on the appliance (Fig. 5).3 Touch the hair lightly with the trimmer. Makewell-controlled movements (Fig. 12).CleaningWarning: Never use scouring pads, abrasivecleaning agents or aggressive liquids such aspetrol or acetone to clean the appliance.Warning:Never immerse the appliance inwater, or rinse it under the tap.Note: Only the cutting element and the comb canbe cleaned with water.1 Make sure that the appliance is switched offand disconnected from the mains.2 Wipe the housing of the appliance with a drycloth.3 Remove the comb. Clean it with the cleaningbrush and rinse with water (Fig. 13).4 Press the release button. The cutting unitcomes off the appliance (Fig. 14).5 Clean the cutting unit with the cleaning brush orrinse it under the tap (Fig. 15).6 Clean the inside of the appliance with thecleaning brush (Fig. 16).7 Shake off excess water. To reattach the cuttingunit, insert the lug of the cutting unit into theguiding slot.8 Insert the lug of the cutting unit into the guidingslot and push the cutting unit back onto theappliance (Fig. 17).ReplacementOnly replace a worn or damaged cutting unit withan original Philips cutting unit, available fromauthorised Philips service centre.1 Press the release button.
