5.6 Viewing Resources with Device ManagerThis discussion applies equally to Windows 95/98/ME and 2000/XP. Windowsmaintains a registry of all known hardware installed within the computer. Inside this hardwareregistry Windows keeps track of all the computer's resources, such as base I/O addresses, IRQlevels, and DMA channels. In the case of a PCI plug-in card, Windows configures the newhardware using free resources it finds within the hardware registry, and updates the registryautomatically.To view and/or edit hardware devices in Windows use the system Device Manager.Consult Windows on-line help for details on the use of the Device Manager.The following instructions provide step-by-step instructions on viewing resources used bythe DSC-200/300 in Windows using the "Device Manager" utility. Select Start|Help from withinWindows for additional information on this utility.1. Double click the "System" icon inside the Control Panel folder. This opens up the SystemProperties box.2. Click the "Device Manager" tab located along the top of the System Properties box. Thislists all hardware devices registered inside the Windows registry.
