LCD INSTALLATION AND OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS Page 11Horizontal vent systems shall terminate at least 4 ft,1.3 m below, 4 ft, 1.3 m horizontally from or 1 ft,0.23 mabove any door, window or gravity air inlet into anybuilding. It must not terminate less than 4 ft,1.3 mhorizontally from, and in no case above or below, unlessa 4 ft,1.3 m horizontal distance is maintained, fromelectric meters, gas meters, regulators and reliefequipment and not less than 7 ft,2.3 m from any adjacentpublic walkway. The bottom of the vent terminal(s) shallbe located at least 5 ft,1.5 m above the air intaketerminal(s) unless there is a minimum 5 ft,1.5 mhorizontal separation between them. Avoid terminallocations likely to be affected by winds, snowdrifts, peopleand pets. Protect building materials and vegetation fromdegradation caused by the flue gases.Vertical Direct Vent Systems - Figure 6The maximum length for the ver tical vent andcombustion air pipes is 35 ft,10.8 m plus two 90˚elbows. If any part of a single wall metal vent systempasses through an unheated space it must be insulatedwith insulation rated for 400˚F,204˚C. Structuralpenetrations must be made using approved fire-stops.A listed, nonrestrictive vent cap must be used. The topof a vertical vent system must extend at least 5 1/2 ft,1.8 m above the roof surface that it passes through,4 ft,1.3 m above the intake air cap, see Figure 6.HORIZONTAL VENT,NEGATIVE PRESSUREIn this configuration a wall-mounted power venter mustbe used to pull the flue products horizontally from theunit and vent them to the outdoors, see Figures 3, 4 &5. The air for combustion is taken from the space inwhich the unit is installed, or from the outdoors. Theapplicable instructions under the “COMBUSTION AIR& VENTILATION SECTION” must be followed! To maximize the performance of single wall sheet metalvent systems locate 90˚ elbows as far from the boileras possible and from one another. For best results, horizontal vent systems should be as short and straightas possible. When horizontal vent runs exceed 5 ft,1.5 m theymust be supported at 3 ft,0.98 m intervals withoverhead hangers. The vent system must be pitcheddown, toward the vent terminal, 1/4 in/ft,21 mm/m.If any part of a single wall metal vent system passesthrough an unheated space it must be insulated withinsulation rated for 400˚F,204˚C.Horizontal vent systems shall terminate at least 4 ft,1.3 m below, 4 ft,1.3 m horizontally from or 1 ft,0.23 m above any door, window or gravity air inletinto any building. It must not terminate less than4 ft,1.3 m horizontally from, and in no case aboveor below, unless a 4 ft,1.3 m horizontal distanceis maintained, from electric meters, gas meters, regulators and relief equipment and not less than 7 ft,2.3 m from any adjacent public walkway. The bottomof the vent terminal(s) shall be located at least 5 ft,1.5m above the air intake terminal(s) unless there isa minimum 5 ft,1.5 m horizontal separation betweenthem. Avoid terminal locations likely to be affected bywinds, snowdrifts, people and pets. Protect buildingmaterials and vegetation from degradation caused bythe flue gases. To determine the appropriate power venter for theboiler/water heater, see Table 5. Follow the power ventermanufacturer’s installation instructions.Table 5 - Power Venter SizesOUTDOOR VENTINGWhen installed outdoors the LCD must be fitted withthe factory supplied outdoor vent hood and air intakehood, see Figure 8. Multiple units must be spaced perFigure 9.The boiler/water heater must be at least 10 ft,3.0 mfrom any door, window or gravity air inlet into anybuilding and at least 3 ft,0.9 m from any overhangunless local codes dictate differently.CAUTION: Do not place the boiler/water heater in alocation that would subject it to runoff from adjacentbuildings or damage may occur voiding thewarranty!LCD Power Venter Max.
