Connecting Your TVCable-TV OperationYour new TV is designed to receiveup to 181 TV channels, including 125r_on-scrambled cable channels (seechart below). To use this TV on acable-TV system, confirm that thecable-TV, system is properlyconnected to your TV. Since cablesystems vary, you may wish toconsult your local cable-TV companyfor additional information.If your cable-TV company followsEIA/NCTA channel-identificationstandards, most of the channelsoffered by your cable company willbe identified by channel numbers thatare identical to those on your TV. Forexample, if your cable-TV system hasprograms on cable channel 20, youcan choose this channel by selectingchannel 20 on your TV.Some cable-TV companies do notfollow the EIA/NCTA standards andinstead assign their own channelidentification. For example, someuse the standard broadcast channelnumbers (2-13)for channels 2-13,but identify their other channels withletters. If your cable company doesnot follow the EIAfNCTA standards,ask them for a cross reference thatshows to which channels you shouldtune your TV to receive their cable-TV channels.Scrambled Cable-TV ChannelsSome cable companies offer"premium-pay" channels in whichthe signal is scrambled.Descrambling these signals fornormal viewing may require the useof a cable box which is generallyprovided by the cable company.How you connect the cable box toyour TV depends upon whether ornot the cable box can be controlledby remote control.
