Your unit might differ from pictures in this book.Progressive ScanSome TVs or monitors are equipped with Component Video Inputs that are capable ofreproducing a progressively scanned video signal. Connecting these inputs allows you to viewthe highest quality video with less flicker, but you must turn on Progressive Scan in the menu:1. From the Display menu highlight Progressive Scan.2. Each time you press the OK button, the setting switches between On and Off.3. To return to the previous menu, press the left arrow button if necessary.Note: Once the setting for progressive scan output is entered, an image will only be visisble on aprogressive scan compatible TV or monitor. If you set Progressive Scan to On in error, you must reset theunit: point the remote at the player and press STOP. Then, press and hold the FORWARD button for 5seconds. The video output will be restored to the standard setting and the picture will once again bevisible on a conventional analog TV or monitor. If that doesn’t work, press SKIP>>l on the front of theDVD Player and the STOP button on the remote control, at the same time.The Sound MenuThe Sound menu lets you adjust the player’s settings to match the equipment you connectedto your DVD Player, and to use the DVD Player’s Sound features.Sound LogicThe Sound Logic feature compresses the dynamic range (quietest sound to loudest sound) of adisc’s soundtrack to even out the range of volume.1. From the Main Menu, (player on, no disc playing), highlight Sound and press the OKbutton on the remote (the Sound options appear).2. If Sound Logic isn’t already highlighted, press the up arrow button on the remote controlto highlight it and press OK (the Sound Logic options appear).3. Use the up/down arrow buttons to highlight a choice and press the OK button:None - this is the default (Sound Logic is turned off).Compressed - the volume range is compressed (loud sounds quieter and soft soundslouder).Voice+ - the volume level of the audio track that carries the movie’s dialogue is turnedup. Choose this option only if you’ve used the DVD Player’s 5.1CH AUDIO OUT jacks toconnect the player to compatible analog input jacks on an amplifier.Note: The performance of the Sound Logic feature varies depending upon the equipment you haveconnected to your DVD Player and the audio format of the disc you’re playing.DRC700.part2.7.26.02 8/1/02 11:09 AM Page 32
