OptionsDue to ongoing development please refer to www.RELM.com for the latest revision of options .4.1 Simplex Changeover Relay4.1.1 DescriptionFor simplex applications an internally mounted coaxial changeover relay can beprovided. This mounts on the rear panel and the common port protrudes through thechassis providing the simplex antenna connection. The relay normally closed port isinternally connected to the SMX920 receiver and the normally open port is connectedto the transmitter via the standard RX connector hole in the chassis (the RX connectoris removed) using a special cable assembly. The relay also has control connections tothe micro controller PCB.Once the relay option is fitted the channels are programmed as simplex channelsthrough the Channel Edit screen of the built-in radio configuration menu system.When the simplex mode is selected, a small time delay is added to the transmitter RFto allow the relay to changeover and set the simplex operating mode respectively.4.1.2 InstallationComponents Required:1. Coaxial Relay Assy complete with Tx and Rx cable connected. Qty-12. 2 of M3 Metric 8mm pozi-drive screws. Qty-2Test Equipment Required:1. Communications Test Set2. SMX920 Radio Communications CableMethod:1. Remove the cover to the SMX920 radio.2. Remove the existing Receiver coaxial feeder cable assy.3. Install the relay assy into the SMX920 with the relay coil on the opposite side ofthe relay to the DC power connector. Secure with the 2 of 3x8mm screwsprovided.4. Route the Rx coaxial cable to the Rx unit input RF connector.5. Connect RG58 cable assy to the PA module RF output.
