Never use yourhedge-trimmer when wearing pants withloose cuffs, when wearing sandals, orwhen barefoot.• When using your hedge-trimmer for anextended period of time, you should wearear protectors to protect yourself from lossof hearing from overexposure to high levelsof sound.■ WARNINGS CONSIDERING HANDLING OF FUEL• The engine of the RedMax hedge-trimmeris designed to run on a mixed fuel whichcontains highly flammable gasoline. Thisfuel is highly flammable and you shouldnever store cans of fuel or refill the tank ofthe hedge-trimmer in any place wherethere is a boiler, stove, wood fire, electricalsparks, welding sparks, or any other sourceof heat or fire which might ignite the fuel.• Smoking while operating the hedge-trimmeror refilling its fuel tank is extremelydangerous. Always be sure to keep litcigarettes away from the hedge-trimmer atall times.• When refilling the tank always turn off theengine first and take a careful look aroundto make sure that there are no sparks oropen flames anywhere nearby beforerefueling.• If any fuel spillage occurs during refueling,always be sure to use a dry rag to wipe anyfuel which has been spilled onto the hedge-trimmer before turning the engine back onagain.• After refueling, screw the fuel cap backtightly onto the fuel tank and then carry thehedge-trimmer to a spot 10 feet or moreaway from where it was refueled beforeturning on the engine.5
