Regency ® E21-10 Gas Fireplace Insert | 15|15installationGAS PIPEPRESSURE TESTINGThe appliance must be isolated from the gassupply piping system by closing its individualmanual shut-off valve during any pressuretesting of the gas supply piping system at testpressures equal to or less than 1/2 psig. (3.45kPa). Disconnect piping from valve at pressuresover 1/2 psig. The manifold pressure is controlled by a regulatorbuilt into the gas control, and should be checkedat the pressure test point.Note: To properly check gas pressure, bothinlet and manifold pressures shouldbe checked using the valve pressureports on the valve.1) Make sure the valve is in the "OFF"position.2) Loosen the "IN" and/or "OUT" pressuretap(s), turning counterclockwise with a 1/8"wide flat screwdriver.3) Attach manometer to "IN" and/or "OUT"pressure tap(s) using a 5/16" ID hose.4) Light the pilot and turn the valve to "ON"position. Read manometer.5) The pressure check should be carried outwith the unit burning and the setting shouldbe within the limits specified on the safetylabel.6) When finished reading manometer, turnoff the gas valve, disconnect the hose andtighten the screw (clockwise) with a 1/8" flatscrewdriver. Note: Screw should be snug, but do not over tightenVENTINGTHE AP PLIA N C E M U ST N OT B ECONNECTED TO A CHIMNEY FLUESERVING A SEPARATE SOLID FUELBURNING APPLIANCE.This appliance is designed to attach to a 4"diameter type B-Vent or double thickness approvedaluminium flex liner. The flue collar of the appliance will fit inside astandard vent and may be fastened directly tothe vent by sheet metal screw or a B-Vent, singlewall vent connector.B-Vent chimneys require a 1"clearance to combustibles.A 3" diameter type B-Vent or approved aluminiumflex liner may also be used with a 4" to 3" reduc-ing adapter. Consult venting charts and local coderequirements. The Regency® Insert incorporates its own internaldraft hood, so no additional external draft hood isrequired. Check periodically that the vent is unre-stricted and an adequate draft is present when theunit is in operation. Before installing the vent system ensure that thedamper plate is locked into the open position andsecure to prevent the damper plate from fallingdown and crushing the liner. The appliance is equipped with a vent safety shutoffsystem and a safety control system designed toprotect against improper venting of combustionproducts. The appliance will not function withoutbeing connected to a proper system.WARNING: Operation of this heaterwhen not connected to a properlyinstalled and maintained ventingsystem or tampering with the ventshut-off system can result in carbonmonoxide (CO) poisoning andpossible death. This appliance must not be connected to achimney flue serving a separate solid fuel burn-ing appliance. For best venting performance, we recommendthe following venting rules:1) Use only certified Type B gas vent orapproved flex liner.2) Follow the vent manufacturer's instructionsand clearance requirements.3) Observe any local code restrictions, if any, regarding the installation of gas inserts.4) Use as few elbows as possible.5) Keep horizontal lengths as short as possibleand maintain at least an upward slope of1/4 in. (6.4mm) for every 12 in. (305mm) ofhorizontal run.6) Terminate the vent with a suitable certifiedvent cap.COMBUSTION AND VENTI-LATION AIRWARNING: This appliance needs fresh airfor safe operation and must be installedwith provisions for adequate combustionand ventilation air available to the room inwhich it is to be operating.Follow CAN/CGA B149 (in Canada) or ANSIZ223.1 (in the USA) requirements, and any localcodes or regulations of the enforcing authority.Air for combustion is drawn in through the frontof the unit, therefore, the front of the unit mustbe kept clear of any obstructions.
