Your RegencyInsert is designed for installation into a masonryfireplace that is constructed in accordance withthe requirements of "The Standard for Chimneys,Fireplaces, Vents, and Solid Fuel Burning Ap-pliance", N.F.P.A. 211, the National BuildingCode of Canada, or the applicable local coderequirements.The appliance, when installed, must be electri-cally grounded in accordance with local codes or,in the absence of local codes, with the NationalElectrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70, or the CanadianElectrical code, CSA C22.1.Regency Inserts are designed to use either a5.5" (140mm) or 6" (152mm) flue.requirements for installingsolid-fuel inserts in factory-builtfireplaces.1) The insert must be tested and meet therequirements of UL 1482 (U.S.) and or ULCS628 (Canada) when tested in a masonryfireplace built per ULC S628.2) The factory-built fireplace must be listed perUL 127 or ULC S610.3) Clearances obtained from the masonry fire-place tests are also relevant for installationin factory-built fireplaces.4) Installation must include a full height listedchimney liner type HT requirements (2100degree F.) per UL 1777 (U.S.) or ULCS635 (Canada). The liner must be securelyattached to the insert flue collar and thechimney top.5) Means must be provided to prevent roomair passage to the chimney cavity of thefireplace. This may be accomplished bysealing the damper area around the chimneyliner, or sealing the fireplace front.6) Alteration of the fireplace in any manner is notpermitted with the following exceptions;a. external trim pieces which do not affectthe operation of the fireplace may beremoved providing they can be storedon or within the fireplace for re-assemblyif the insert is removed.b. the chimney damper may be removedto install the chimney liner.7) Circulating air chambers (i.e. in a steelfireplace liner or metal heat circulator) shallnot be blocked.8) Means must be provided for removal of theinsert to clean the chimney flue.Regency Inserts are constructed with the high-est quality materials and assembled under strictquality control procedures that insure years oftrouble free and reliable performance.It is important that you read this manual thor-oughly and fully understand the safe instal-lation and operating procedures. Install and useonly in accordance with manufacturer’sinstallation and operating instructions.2) Check your local building codes - BuildingInspection Department. You may requirea permit before installing your insert. Beaware that local codes and regulations mayoverride some items in the manual.WarninG: careless installation is themajor cause of safety hazard. check alllocal building and safety codes beforeinstallation of unit.3) Notify your home insurance company thatyou plan to install a fireplace insert or hearthheater.4) Your fireplace insert is heavy and requirestwo or more people to move it safely. Theinsert can be badly damaged by mishan-dling.5) If your existing fireplace damper controlwill become inaccessible once you haveinstalled your Regency Insert, you shouldeither remove or secure it in the open posi-tion.6) Inspect your fireplace and chimney priorto installing your insert to determine that itis free from cracks, loose mortar or othersigns of damage. If repairs are required,they should be completed before installingyour insert. Do not remove bricks or mortarfrom your masonry fireplace.7) Do not connect the insert to a chimneysystem servicing another appliance or anair distribution duct.9) Inserts that project in front of the fireplacemust be supplied with appropriate supportingmeans.10) Installer must mechanically attach the sup-plied label to the inside of the firebox of thefireplace into which the insert is installed.In order for a solid-fuel insert to be certifiedfor use in factory-built fireplaces, the aboveinformation must be clearly stated in the instal-lation manual and appropriate markings.
