10 I1200 Regency Wood InsertINSTALLATION1) Positive FlueConnectionwith Cleanout2) Direct FlueConnectionwith Cleanout3a) Full Flue Liner(No CleanoutRequired)Note: A clean-out door is sometimesrequired, by your inspector, to beinstalled when either the Positive flueconnection or Direct fl ue connectionmethod is used. The use of one of the connection methods listedon this page not only increases the safety of yourinsert by directing the hot gases up the flue, butwill also help increase the unit's efficiency anddecrease creosote deposits in the chimney. When a connected flue or liner is in use, theinsert is able to “breathe” better by allowing agreater draft to be created. The greater draft candecrease problems such as, difficult start-ups,smoking out the door, and dirty glass.INSTALLATION INTO AFACTORY BUILTFIREPLACE1) When installed in a factory built fireplace, afull stainless steel rigid or flexible flue lineris mandatory, for both safety and perform-ance purposes. When a flue or liner is inuse, the insert is able to breathe better byallowing a greater draft to be created. Thegreater draft can decrease problems suchas, difficult start-ups, smoking out the door, and dirty glass.2) In order to position the flue liner, the exist-ing rain cap must be removed from yourchimney system. In most cases the fluedamper should also be removed to allowpassage of the liner.3) In most cases opening the existing sparkscreens fully should give enough room forthe insert installation. If it does not, removeand store. When referencing installation or connec-tion to masonry fireplaces or chimneys, themasonry construction must or shall be codecomplying.INSTALLATION INTO AMASONRY FIREPLACEThe insert must be installed as per the require-ments of your local inspection authority. Threemethods of flue connection are acceptable inmost areas, these include:1) Positive flue connection, where a largeblocking plate and a short connector pipeis used.2) Direct flue connection, where a smallerblocking plate and a connector pipe to thefirst flue liner tile is used.3) Full flue liner, where a stainless steel rigidor flexible liner pipe is routed from the insertoutlet collar to the top of the chimney.Regency highly recommends the use of a fullliner as the safest installation and provides themost optimum performance. Your retailer shouldbe able to help you decide which system wouldbe the best for your application. In Canada this fi replace insert must beinstalled with a continuous chimney linerof 5.5" or 6" diameter extending from thefireplace insert to the top of the chimney. The chimney liner must conform to theClass 3 requirements of CAN/ULC-S635or CAN/ULC-S640, Standard for LiningSystems for New Masonry Chimneys.4) If the floor of your fireplace is below thelevel of the fireplace opening, adjust theinsert's levelling bolts to accommodate thedifference. When additional shimming isrequired, use non-combustible masonry orsteel shims.5) Measure approximately the alignment of theflue liner with the position of the smoke outlethole on the insert to check for possible offset. If an offset is required, use the appropriateoffset adaptor in your installation.6) Once the above items have been checked, slide your insert into position after first po-sitioning and securing the flue liner to theoffset adaptor.Attach the rod to the adaptor and slide theadaptor onto the unit as the unit is slid intoposition. Ensure a positive connection.Secure the adaptor to the unit by using 2bolts, flat washers, lock washers and onescrew in the front.Re-install raincap at completion of installa-tion.
