Regency P33-3 Zero Clearance Direct Vent Gas FireplaceINSTALLATIONDiagram 3HORIZONTAL INSTALLATIONSDiagram 1b) Horizontal runs of vent must be sup-ported every three feet. Wall straps areavailable for this purpose.5) Mark the wall for a 10" x 10" square hole. The center of the square hole should lineup with the centerline of the horizontal pipe.Cut and frame the 10 inch square hole inthe exterior wall where the vent will beterminated. If the wall being penetrated isconstructed of non-combustible material,i.e. masonry block or concrete, a 7"(178mm)diameter (7-1/2"(191mm) dia. for flex) holeis acceptable.Note:a) The horizontal run of vent must be level,or have a 1/4 inch rise for every 1 footof run towards the termination. Neverallow the vent to run downward. Thiscould cause high temperatures andmay present the possibility of a fire.b) The location of the horizontal vent termi-nation on an exterior wall must meet alllocal and national building codes, andmust not be blocked or obstructed. ForExternal Vent Terminal Locations, seediagram on page 9.c) Snorkel Terminations:For installations requiring a vertical riseon the exterior of the building, 14-inchand 36-inch tall Snorkel Terminationsand the Riser Vent as shown in Dia. 2 &2a are available. Follow the same instal-lation procedures as used for standardHorizontal Termination. NEVER installthe snorkel upside down.*As specified in CGA B149 Installation Code.Local codes or regulations may require differ-ent clearances.Diagram 2Below Grade Snorkel InstallationIf the Snorkel Termination must beinstalled below grade, i.e. basementapplication, proper drainage must beprovided to prevent water from enter-ing the Snorkel Termination. Refer toDura-Vent Installation instructions fordetails. Do not attempt to enclose theSnorkel within the wall, or any other typeof enclosure.6) The arrow on the vent cap shouldbe pointing up. Insure that the 1-1/2"clearances to combustible materials aremaintained (Dia. 3). Install the terminationcap. AstroCapTM or Dura-Vent HorizontalTermination Cap may be used.Diagram 2aInstall the vent system according to themanufacturer's instructions included with thecomponents.1) Set the unit in its desired location. Checkto determine if wall studs or roof raftersare in the way when the venting system isattached. If this is the case, you may wantto adjust the location of the unit. Rough inthe gas preferably on the right side of theunit and the electrical (junction block is onthe left side) on the left.2) Direct Vent pipe and fittings are designedwith special twist-lock connections to con-nect the venting system to the applianceflue outlet. A twist-lock appliance adaptoris an available option that must be used inconjunction with the Simpson Dura-VentDirect Vent GS system.3) Put a bead of silicone inside the outer sec-tion of the adapter and a bead of StoveMate on the inner collar. Slip the adapterover the existing inner and outer flue collarand fasten to the outer collar only with the3 supplied screws (drilling pilot holes willmake this easier). Level the fireplace andfasten it to the framing using nails or screwsthrough the nailing strips.4) Assemble the desired combination of pipeand elbows to the appliance adaptor andtwist-lock for a solid connection.Note:a) Twist-lock procedure: Four indentations, located on the female ends of pipes andfittings, are designed to slide straightonto the male ends of adjacent pipesand fittings, by orienting the four pipeindentations so they match and slidein to the four entry slots on the maleends, Dia. 1. Push the pipe sectionscompletely together, then twist-lockone section clockwise approximatelyone-quarter turn, until the two sectionsare fully locked. The female locking lugswill not be visible from the outside, onthe Black Pipe or fittings. They may belocated by examining the inside of thefemale ends.Note: Apply sealant "Mill-Pac" to inner pipeand high temperature silicone seal-ant to outer pipe on every twist-lockjoint.The four wood screws provided shouldbe replaced with appropriate fasteners forstucco, brick, concrete, or other types ofsidings.Note: If installing termination on a sidingcovered wall, a vinyl siding standoff orfurring strips must be used to ensurethat the termination is not recessedinto the siding.7) Before connecting the horizontal run of ventpipe to the vent termination, slide the WallThimble (Part # 620-926) over the ventpipe.8) Slide the appliance and vent assembly to-wards the wall carefully inserting the vent
