38 | LRI3E / HRI3E Direct Vent Gas Insert|38 maintenanceGENERAL VENTMAINTENANCEConduct an inspection of the venting system semi-annually. Recommended areas to inspect as follows:1) Check the Venting System for corrosion in areasthat are exposed to the elements. These willappear as rust spots or streaks, and in extremecases, holes. These components should bereplaced immediately.2) Remove the Termination Cap, and shine alashlight down the Vent. Remove any bird nests,or other foreign material.3) Check for evidences of excessive condensation, such as water droplets forming in the innerliner, and subsequently dripping out the joints,Continuous condensation can cause corrosionof caps, pipe, and ittings. It may be causedby having excessive lateral runs, too manyelbows, and exterior portions of the systembeing exposed to cold weather.4) Inspect joints, to verify that no pipe sections orittings have been disturbed, and consequentlyloosened. Also check mechanical supports suchas Wall Straps, or plumbers' tape for rigidity.LOG REPLACEMENTThe unit should never be used with broken logs.Turnoff the gas valve and allow the unit to cool beforeopening door to carefully remove the logs. The pilotlight generates enough heat to burn someone. Iffor any reason a log should need replacement, youmust use the proper replacement log. The positionof these logs must be as shown in the diagramunder Log Installation.NOTE: Improper positioning of logs may createcarbon build-up and will alter the unit’s performancewhich is not covered under warranty.GLASS GASKETIf the glass gasket requires replacement use glassgasket for the Flush Front (Part # 936-112).PILOT ADJUSTMENTPeriodically check the pilot lames. Correct lamepattern has two strong blue lames: 1 lowingaround the lame sensor and 1 lowing acrossthe burner (it does not have to be touching theburner).BACKUP BATTERY PACKThere is a back up battery pack located on the leftside of the unit, used in case of a power outage.1. Remove battery pack from left side of unit (at-tached with velcro).BurnerThermocouplePilotIgnitorNote: If you have an incorrect lame pattern, contact your Regency® dealer for furtherinstructions.Incorrect lame pattern will have small, probablyyellow lames, not coming into proper contactwith the rear burner or lame sensor.2. Slide back battery cover.3. Install 4-AA battery.4. Reinstall battery pack on to unit.
