GB12CONNECTIONSConnecting the SpeakersBlackPress down the terminaltab on the back of thespeaker.1 Insert the black wire into theblack terminal (ñ) and the redwire into the red (+) terminal,and then release the tab.2 Connect the correct color speaker cableto the same color speaker output terminalon the rear of the subwoofer, accordingto the polarity markings (+/ñ).Example: Connect the green center speaker cableto the green center speaker outputterminal on the rear of the subwooferaccording to the polarity markings (+/ñ).3Redï Do not let children play with or near the speakers.They could get hurt if a speaker falls.ï When connecting the speaker wires to the speakers,make sure that the polarity (+/ñ) is correct.Cautionï If you place a speaker near your TV set,screen color may be distorted because ofthe magnetic field generated by thespeaker. If this occurs, place the speakeraway from your TV set.NoteFront Speaker (R)Rear Speaker (R)SubwooferCenter SpeakerFront Speaker (L)Rear Speaker (L)HT-Q20Rear Speakersï Place these speakers behind your listening position.ï If there isn't enough room, place these speakers so they face each other.ï Place them about 60 to 90cm (2 to 3feet) above your ear, facing slightlydownward.* Unlike the front and center speakers, the rear speakers are used tohandle mainly sound effects and sound will not come from them allthe time.Subwooferï The position of the subwoofer is not so critical.Place it anywhere you like.Front Speakersï Place these speakers in front of your listeningposition, facing inwards (about 45∞) toward you.ï Place the speakers so that their tweeters will be atthe same height as your ear.ï Align the front face of the front speakers with thefront face of the center speaker or place themslightly in front of the center speakers.Center Speakerï It is best to install it at the same height as the frontspeakers.ï You can also install it directly over or under the TV.Position of the DVD Playerï Place it on a stand or cabinet shelf, or underthe TV stand.Selecting the Listening PositionThe listening position should be located about 2.5 to 3times the distance of the TV's screen size away from theTV.
