26Inserting the SD memory cardThe camera comes with 16MB of internal flash memory, allowing you to store images and movieclips in the camera. However, you can expand the memory capacity by using an optional SDmemory card([CARD] stands for the SD memory card) so that you can store more images andmovie clips.The CARD has a write protect switch thatprevents image files from being deleted orformatted. By sliding the switch to the bottom ofthe card, the data will be protected. By sliding theswitch to the top of the card, the data protectionwill be canceled. Check the switch position beforetaking an image.1. Turn off the camera power and pull the card cover inthe direction of the arrow to open.2. Insert the card all the way into the card slot. The cardpins and the LCD monitor should face in the samedirection. The card will be fitted.3. To close, push the card cover toward the arrow untilyou hear a click.Once the CARD is inserted, the SD memory cardindicator will appear on the LCD monitor.If the CARD does not fit, check that it is insertedcorrectly. Do not force the card.Insert the Multi Media Card(MMC) in the same way as the SD memory card is inserted.Should you insert the Multi Media Card in the opposite direction, it may still slide in, butpart of it will project from the slot and it will not fit correctly.
