52Section 5: Entering TextThis section describes how to select the desired textinput methodwhen entering characters into your phone. Thissection also describes the predictive text entrysystem that reduces the amount of key strokesassociated with entering text.Your phone comes equipped with an orientationdetector that can tell if the phone is being held in anupright (Portrait) or sideways (Landscape)orientation. This is useful when entering text.Your phone also provides several on-screen keypadtext entry options to make the task of text entry thatmuch easier.Text Input MethodsThere are two text input methods available:• Samsung keypad: an on-screen QWERTY keypadthat can be used in both portrait and landscapeorientation.• Swype (default): a new way to enter text on touchscreens. Instead of tapping each key, use yourfinger to trace over each letter of a word.The on-screen QWERTY keypad works the same inboth portrait and landscape mode.Selecting the Text Input MethodThe Text Input Method can be assigned from withinone of two locations:Settings Menu: Press ➔ and then tap(Settings) ➔ Language and keyboard ➔Select input method.Text Input field:1.
