Bluetooth 118Section 16: BluetoothBluetooth is a short-range wireless communications technologycapable of exchanging information over a distance of about 30feet without requiring a physical connection.Unlike infrared, you don't need to line up the devices to beaminformation with Bluetooth. If the devices are within a range ofone another, you can exchange information between them, evenif they are located in different rooms.The Bluetooth wireless technology settings menu provides theability to view and change the device name, show the visibility,and set the security for the device.Turn Bluetooth On/OffWhen your phone’s Bluetooth function is turned on, you can usethe Bluetooth features available. When the Bluetooth function isturned off, you cannot send or receive information via Bluetooth.To save battery life or in situations where Bluetooth use isprohibited, such as airline traveling, you can turn off theBluetooth wireless technology function.(For more information, refer to “Bluetooth Settings” onpage 119.)Add New DeviceTo search for available Bluetooth devices:1. In standby mode, press Menu ( ), then select Bluetooth➔ Registered List ➔ Add New Device.If Bluetooth is off, you are prompted to “Turn Bluetoothon?”.• To turn Bluetooth on, press the Yes soft key.• To leave Bluetooth off, press the No soft key.“Place device you are connecting to in discoverable mode”appears in the display.2. Place the Bluetooth device in discoverable mode. (Formore information, refer to the device user manual.)3. Press OK ( ). Names of theavailable devices appears in thedisplay.4. Highlight the device you want to pairwith your phone.
