64 Wi-FiSettingsWi-FiWi-Fi is a term used for certaintypes of Wireless Local AreaNetworks (WLAN). Wi-Ficommunication requires accessto a Wireless Access Point(WAP).Turn Wi-Fi On or OffTurning Wi-Fi on makes your device able to discoverand connect to compatible in-range WAPs.1. From a Home screen, tap Apps >Settings > CONNECTIONS.2. Tap Wi-Fi, and then tap ON/OFF to turn Wi-Fi onor off.Wi-Fi Status IndicatorsStatus bar icons show your current Wi-Fi connectionstatus:• When Wi-Fi is connected, active, andcommunicating with a Wireless Access Point(WAP), displays.• If a Wi-Fi access point is available, but your deviceis not connected to it, displays. It may alsodisplay if there is a communication issue with thetarget Wireless Access Point (WAP).Scan and Connect to a Wi-FiNetwork1. From a Home screen, tap Apps >Settings > CONNECTIONS.2. Tap Wi-Fi, and then tap ON/OFF to turn Wi-Fi on.• When Wi-Fi is first turned on, your device willautomatically scan for available networks anddisplay them.• To manually scan for networks, tapMore options > Scan.3. Tap the network you want to connect to.• When you select an open network, you areautomatically connected to the network.Otherwise, enter a password to connect.Manually Connect to aWi-Fi Network1. From a Home screen, tap Apps >Settings > CONNECTIONS.2. Tap Wi-Fi, and then tap ON/OFF to turn Wi-Fi on.3. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and tapAdd Wi-Fi network.4. Enter information about the Wi-Fi network:• Network SSID: Enter the name of the Wi-Finetwork.• Security: Select a security option and enteryour password.• Show advanced options: Tap if you need toadd advanced options such as Proxy settings,IP settings, or Key management.5. Tap CONNECT to store the new information andconnect to your target WAP.
